A Newcastle-based printing company has invested £230,000 in two Canon wide-format printers.

Large Print Works has become one of the first British companies to invest in an Océ Colorado 1650 following its unveiling at Fespa in May. The press will join an Océ Arizona 6170 XTS, which has already been installed.

The two machines will allow Large Print Works, which hopes to increase its turnover by 25% in 2019, to take on more large scale projects as well as producing more work.

‘Many printers are well-acquainted with the idea that they must adopt new technology to survive and stay ahead of the competition,’ said managing director John Laidler. ‘We have invested in the most technologically advanced equipment available in the market at present to become even more competitive, as well as enhancing our quality and furthering our reputation for delivering outstanding service and value to every client.

‘Everyone wants everything at the last minute these days and, with our previous machine, we could not cope with that. We would be turning around on average 30 panels a day, but the new machine means we can start producing up to 200 a day.’
