The Print Futures Awards, the scheme for young people in printing, publishing and the graphic arts, sponsored by The Printing Charity, Unite the Union and the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) is set to more than treble in size.

The Printing Charity, the lead sponsor of the awards scheme, now in its tenth year, is injecting £30,000 into the 2013 programme which, together with the contribution from Unite and the BPIF, will mean that up to 20 awards will be available this year.

Stephen Gilbert, chief executive of The Printing Charity, explained: ‘Our trustees have decided to further back our work amongst young people. In these tough economic times, it is good news that this extra help is available for young people aged 16 to 30 years seeking training and education for a career in printing, publishing and the graphic arts, including those already working in the UK industry who want to develop their skills and improve their earning ability.’

The awards, worth up to £1500 each for winners who make it through a stringent selection process. Winners will receive their Print Futures Awards at a prestigious presentation ceremony to be held at the House of Lords, in London, in July.
