The latest Remote Director for SoftProofing, Version 5 is now available in the UK from Colour Engine.

The software comes with a cloud based service and new collaborative workflow. It has new developed and intelligent features for collaborative tracking of on-screen proofs and the ability to render spot colours accurately for house and brand colours that hard copy ink and paper struggle to reproduce.

Mark Anderton, managing director, siad, ‘Remote Director 5 will change the game. With the new version, print service providers can now choose between a cloud based option or a local server. This allows for greater flexibility of integration with existing client web-to-print and pre-press workflows. Nothing else on the market at present has the ability to render spot colours as accurately on-screen. With a simplified user interface, it can give easy and fast access to colour accurate proofing tools for commercial and packaging applications. These tools support full automation and can only speed up production and increase confidence in the quality of the final printed product.’

The company has streamlined the full proofing workflow in version 5 to optimise collaboration for everyone in the creative process, which maximise production levels.  With it, the user interface has been simplified and adapted for branding for each viewer with up to 35 customised display options. The software also ensures a selection of customised tools for each task. Viewers can collaborate over colour accurate proofs in real time allowing agencies, brands, publishers, prepress shops and printers to communicate instantly and effectively.

Mr Anderton concluded, ‘Our partnership with Remote Director is an important one. Our customers, the print service providers are showing a growing interest in colour accurate soft proofing. We recognise that paper proofs are still popular but with the uptake of full automation and faster turn-around times required the soft proofing option becomes more attractive. Our customers tell us that they are finding the system efficient and cost effective. The past 18 months has also seen a significant improvement in the quality of accurate colour monitors coming onto the market at much lower prices. In a world of competition between brands colour management is fundamental to the printer. The new system ticks all the boxes helping print service providers manage their business needs and improve quality and speed of production from design to print.’
