William Smith has launched a free virtual training session to help installers and fit-out professionals explore commercial opportunities in interior films.

The one-hour Interior Film in Commercial Taster forms part of the company’s WS Training Academy and is available online with no obligation to book further training. It is aimed at construction professionals, kitchen wrappers, installers and interior fit-out teams looking to understand how existing skills can be applied to higher-value commercial work.

Led by John Raine, training and application manager at William Smith, the session introduces how architectural films are being specified in refurbishment, upgrade and sustainable interiors projects. It covers where commercial opportunities exist, how films are used on site, and the legislation and site requirements installers need to understand.

Architectural films are increasingly used in offices, retail, hospitality and public buildings as an alternative to full replacement. However, William Smith says many installers remain unsure about how to enter the commercial market or what working on site involves.

“Sometimes the title ‘Interior Film in Commercial’ can sound technical or niche. In reality, it is about showing installers and fit-out teams how the skills they already have can open doors to larger, more consistent commercial projects. This free session gives people a clear, practical overview without any pressure to commit,” said Mr Raine.

“We know how busy people are. That is why we have made it virtual, short, and free. It is simply about helping businesses see where growth is happening and how they can be part of it,” he added.

The taster also provides an overview of William Smith’s two-day practical course for those who want to develop their skills further. This includes insight into site protocols, health and safety expectations, working alongside other trades, real-world applications and practical demonstrations.

Mr Raine said: “People often tell us they are curious about commercial work but are not sure what it really involves. This session answers those questions directly and helps them decide whether it is the right next step for their business.”
