Paragon Customer Communications (PCC) has installed a Horizon four clamp BQ-500 iCE Binder from IFS as it looks to meet increased demand for variable book production.

‘We have been using a Horizon BQ-270V single clamp perfect binder and were pleased with the equipment and the service provided from IFS,’ explained Steve Atkins, head of litho at PCC. ‘As part of an investment into our perfect binding capabilities we identified the need for a system that offered greater efficiencies for longer runs.

‘It was easy to familiarise (ourselves) with the new features, and they offer improvements on usability and flexibility of the equipment. It also gives us the additional capacity we needed and delivers the required productivity. The IFS team provided fantastic support, both during and after the installation of the new equipment.’

The 800bph BQ-500 builds on the features of its BQ-470 and BQ-480 predecessors. Its enhanced functionality includes an highly automated set up via a 12.1 inch colour touchscreen, memory storage of up to 999 jobs, pre-installed variable software capability and variable thickness production of 5mm.

It also comes pre-installed with Horizon’s cloud-based iCE LiNK workflow, providing access to a dashboard that reports real-time production analysis for improved efficiency and profitability, remote update capabilities and scheduled maintenance, resulting in less downtime.
