Screentec Flexible Print Solutions has replaced an eight year-old Morgana DigiFold with the latest DigiFold Pro to handle work produced on Xerox digital presses.

The Ferndale, South Wales based company has evolved from being a screen printer to providing a wide range of general commercial print including leaflets, brochures, and booklets, as well as ring binders, box files, signs, labels, and posters.

Jonathan Hainsworth, small format digital manager at Screentec, said of the original DigiFold, ‘It has been the perfect workhorse for all of that time. The unit handles the finishing of some 75 to 80% of our work so reliably – it’s been an incredible machine!

‘However, with some critical parts now beginning to show signs of wear, the time was right for the new machine.’

The DigiFold Pro is an automated creasing / folding machine designed specifically for printers who need to crease and fold digitally printed heavy weight or cross-grained stock. The unit can process up to 6000 sheets per hour and can handle substrates of up to 700mm x 385mm, or 900mm x 385mm with the optional long sheet extension table. Perforation is also a standard feature, with up to five perforation wheels able to be used across the sheet.

With regard to the timing of this latest Morgana addition, Mr Hainsworth said, ‘We have been in demand throughout this whole lockdown period – we have particularly needed to print work for local councils and for food agencies. Although we initially thought the furlough option might be useful, we received some substantial work orders within days of the first lockdown, and have been busy ever since. The new DigiFold is an ideal addition to our production facilities.’
