Graphic Image Films has introduced an anti-bacterial film which it says gives addition protection to any finished job.

The company claims that other products on the market are predominately coatings but its film is ‘impregnated’ with a specially developed additive to give it an anti-bacterial property which remains within the material for the lifetime of the film.

The BOPP-based films are available in both gloss and matt finishes and behave ‘exactly the same’ as the other films in Graphic Image Films’ arts range.

‘Unfortunately in the climate we now find ourselves we need to take as many precautions as we can,’ said managing director Sandro Mosquera. ‘Any product like this one, which offers some protection against killing bacteria, has to be a good thing. So as exclusive distributors, we’re understandably delighted to be bringing this industry leading lamination film to the UK. This sits well with us also now supplying PPE to help many of our customers.’

Graphic Image Films expects the films to be of particular use with products that are likely to be handled by multiple people. Potential examples include laminated media, food and drink menus, corporate brochures, medical information from doctors, dentists and hospitals through to business cards and more.

The film has been lab tested for E Coli and MRSA. As a result, it has been proven to reduce bacterial levels ≥ 99% and it also conforms to ISO 22196 the recognised industry measurement of anti-bacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces.
