X-Rite has unveiled the eXact Auto-Scan, a spectrophotometer-based scanning system for measuring printed colour with spot, manual, and automated scanning capabilities.

The system is designed to ‘minimise human error whilst maximising speed, reducing work and delivering a finished product that meets the tight tolerances customers require’. It is part of X-Rite’s recently expanded eXact family.

‘With commercial printers facing increased job throughput and tighter turnaround times, operators need tools that help automate reoccurring tasks such as manually measuring colour bar patches,’ said Ray Cheydleur, printing and imaging product portfolio manager at X-Rite. ‘The eXact Auto-Scan enables automated and quick measurement of all patches of a colour bar in under 15 seconds. This can reduce make ready times by 30% compared to manual scans for improved operational productivity and efficiencies.’

The eXact Auto-Scan is offered as a stand-alone system or an add-on for existing eXact Standard or Advanced customers. It can be sued with litho, digital and other presses to improve colour accuracy and matching between different devices. Users should benefit from improved colour quality, reduced material waste and expanded workflows. The system  supports all major industry print standards including ISO, PSO and G7, and gives access to Pantone libraries and PantoneLIVE standards for enhanced spot colour handling.
