BCQ chairman Richard Knowles (centre right) seals the deal with Fujifilm’s Dave Cull.

It wanted to make an impact with its customers, and Buckingham printer BCQ believes it has done so with its purchase of Fujifilm’s Acuity Advance HS HD3545W UV digital flatbed printer – the company’s first foray into wide format flatbed.

BCQ chairman Richard Knowles shook on the deal at FESPA, and sees the Acuity playing a big role in the firm’s ‘Jolly Big’ wide format division. The company specialises in the production of marketing materials for a number of industries, including automotive, leisure and government.

Mr Knowles explained: ‘We were looking for something that not only would ramp up output speeds, but also deliver the “zap-between-the-eyes” quality that some of our high-end clients have come to expect from us. We searched the market for over three months looking for the ideal product.’

The Acuity Advance HS HD3545W offers ‘photographic quality’ printing with typical production speeds of 40.2 square metres per hour, a high quality mode of 28.4 square metres per hour, and an ‘express’ mode that offers billboard quality prints at speeds up to 61 square metres per hour. These performance characteristics fit perfectly with BCQ’s ‘Jolly Big’ business model. The Acuity Advance HS will be installed ‘in the near future’.
