Members of Premier’s environmental team have planted 600 native broadleaf trees in the Woodland Trust’s Pepper Wood as part of the company’s ongoing environmental commitment.

Pepper Wood covers some 147 acres in the Worcestershire countryside near Bromsgrove. It is one of Premier’s key tree planting locations as it was the seed which sparked the concept the company’s Carbon Capture programme in 2008.

The Woodland Trust has also bought a plot of land adjacent to the edge of Pepper Wood, with a view to expanding the native woodland area. Premier and its customers were the first group to work on the open space and begin the work of planting trees on the newly acquired land. A total of 600 trees were planted by the team of 30 customers, with many eager to continue the work.

Hussein Ismail, Premier’s sustainable business director, said, ‘Getting out and planting trees to protect our future is brilliant for the youth and the local community. I’m really pleased and delighted at what everyone has achieved here today, coming together and planting trees; everyone is demonstrating their commitment to nature and improving their sustainable development goals and it’s just amazing.’
