Mark Andy has announced its intention of moving into the UK and Ireland’s commercial print space. The company, better known for its narrow web technology, says it will be targeting opportunities for its Digital Pro3 toner-based press among companies looking to diversify their product portfolios.

‘We have researched this market sector carefully and see an opportunity to tap into a seam of interest at traditional commercial print houses that are looking elsewhere to grow their businesses,’ explained Mark Andy’s UK director Ian Pollock. ‘Demand for package print is booming right now and our Digital Pro3 press offers a flexible production option that is ideally suited to short and medium length runs of labels and flexible packaging that are much in demand.’

With commercial margins growing ever slimmer, Mark Andy believes that the DPro3 offers entry into a sector of the market that still enjoys healthy demand boosted by inline product embellishments.

Based on a CMYK dry-toner print engine, the Digital Pro3 offers inline converting and finishing options based on existing Mark Andy technology. With a web width of 330mm and running speed of 23m/min, the unit has a small footprint and requires only a single-phase power supply. Optional features include flexo print/varnish stations with LED-UV curing, laminating, cold foil, and die cutting, with an inline sheeter.

Business development manager Alan Shaw is the man who will be heading this new operation. He commented, ‘With the print market coming under increased pressure from all directions we know that many companies are actively engaged in some lateral thinking about their future business prospects. Digital Pro3 is great entry-level technology for those considering a diversification into the packaging sector – it’s easy to use, very versatile, and economical to run, with no ‘click’ charge’.  And, best of all, it has Mark Andy’s 70 years of expertise and experience behind it!’
