Canon and it subsidiary Océ are sharing a stand at drupa, which is the company’s largest ever presence at the show. Although the Océ name still appears on machines, the  stand is only branded as Canon.

The new president and CEO of Europe, Rokus van Iperen, said that reorganisation will see sales operation combined throughout Europe, with one Canon office per country. The European headquarters will be in London. A lot of the reorganisation will be completed by the end of this year, he said.

Canon is introducing a high capacity stacker for its sheet fed imagePress C7010VPS and C7010VP series, which is a co-development with its subsidiary Océ, using Prisma front ends. The stacker works with an open, standard finishing device interface that offers unlimited stacking capacity via an ‘unload-while-printing’ functionality.

Project Velocity is a very fast prototype large format printer based on Memjet inkjet heads with Océ paper handling components and print controllers.  It ca output up to 500 A0 colour prints per hour. This uses the same six media roll capacity of the Océ ColorWave 600/650. Although production isn’t confirmed yet, it looks close to readiness, though image quality isn’t yet perfect. Target markets would be CAD, GIS and graphic arts.

Also being exhibited on the stand is the new Océ ColorWave 650 Poster Printer, a version of the ColorWave 65 aimed at the point-of-sale market. It can print on a variety of paper sizes and at speeds of 155 A0 sheets per hour. The prints are instantly dry, water resistant, cut to size and ready to be mounted.

New additions to the Océ ColorStream 3000 range of inkjet web preses are the entry-level ColorStream 3200 and high-speed ColorStream 3900, which join the ColorStream 3700.  Developed for transactional print providers, the new digital full-colour inkjet printing systems offer a range of speeds and price points.

Another new inkjet is the Océ JetStream 4300, a 200 metres per minute, full colour production printer intended to produce books, magazines, newspaper and transactional print at short and medium lengths.
