BJ Chant & Sons has put its faith in a set of Tranklein gluing machines, for its high quality book production, and is pleased with what it sees.

The company purchased three of the Tranklein gluing machines and a Smyth Sewing machine from Perfect Bindery Solutions.

The gluing machines come with a size range of 300-800 mm ad can be used for hot and cold glue options.

The operation at BJ Chant & Sons is a traditional one, a place where the quality of the products is of the utmost importance. Part of the process it used in producing its high quality leather books involved a Swift gluing machine, but when that model was discontinued, the company was forced to look for a new alternative.

Mark Bateman, managing director, said, ‘We wanted a like for like solution, which meant we were looking for something with a good build quality and which was durable and robust.’

Mr Bateman feels the company has a hold of the niche market it serves with its line of leather and simulated leather note books.

Mr Bateman added, ‘People are starting to come back to UK manufactured goods. You can get products a lot cheaper in places such as China, but you compromise on the quality. People like to see and feel attention to detail and that’s what they get from UK produced goods.’
