Meadows Publishing Solutions’ variable data software, DesignMerge, has been approved for use with Kodak’s NexPress colour printing systems, opening up the NexPress fifth imaging unit for creative uses of variable data.

The software works directly with Adobe InDesign, and is ideal, according to Meadows, for data-driven VDP applications, from relatively simple, multi-up consecutive numbering and bar coding jobs, to sophisticated, personalized direct mail pieces.

Using DesignMerge, VDP jobs designed for the NexPress Fifth Imaging Station inks are very easy to implement. Colours such as gold or red fluorescing can be used for specialty VDP applications, such as eye-catching personalised overlays, or hidden, variable security information.

John Kriho, president of US-based Meadows, said: ‘Working from within the Adobe InDesign application automatically provides DesignMerge with the features required to achieve such stunning and unique VDP output.’
