Printers can achieve discounts on postage using the new software

Aimed at printers, MyMailing.co.uk from The Software Bureau is designed to make offering direct mail services and achieving postage discounts simple and free.

By understanding how to present a DM job in accordance with the bulk mail specifications from the likes of Royal Mail, printers can achieve discounts on postage. Bundling the print and postage together provides an opportunity to significantly increase the margin per printed item while still providing a discounted ‘per sent item’ price for the customer.

To achieve these postage discounts, mail must be sorted into a specific sequence that corresponds with the way Royal Mail depots and delivery routes are mapped. The Software Bureau has created MyMailing.co.uk to make this ‘mail sort’ process simple and free. There is no software to install, no contracts and no fees; the service enables users to create an account online, upload an address file and commence a sort in just a couple of minutes.

‘The idea behind MyMailing is to try to remove the barriers for printers to get into direct mail,’ explained Martin Rides, managing director of The Software Bureau. ‘At the moment if a printer wants to offer direct mail and save money on postage it can be really cumbersome and costly. Our service takes away all the hassle of software and training and it’s free to use. We hope MyMailing will encourage printers to seriously consider offering direct mail services to their clients.’
