Marcus Tralau, CEO of Kama

Dresden, German-based Kama has had the most successful year in its company history as it enters the packaging market.

The machine manufacturer for print converting and print embellishing closed the 2016/17 financial year (on 31 March) with record sales of €14.75 million. Proceeds from the previous year have increased by 13%.

‘In our core business, the construction and sale of own machines, we even realised a growth of 30%,’ said Marcus Tralau, CEO.

At drupa 2016 the company presented its FF 52i folder gluer dedicated to short runs as well as other new equipment that has been ‘very well received in the market’, reported Mr Tralau. Last month the FF 52i folder-gluer won an EDP Award for the “best folding carton solution”.

The company’s new generation of die cutting and embellishing machines (ProCut 76 Foil and Kama DC 76 ASB) and its established ProFold 74 for folding, gluing and dispensing have also contributed to the sales increase.

‘We take a good order backlog into the new financial year,’ concluded Mr Tralau.
