The K640 bookletmaker and trimmer can finish A4 landscape booklets
Foremost Magnets in Banbury has installed the first K640 bookletmaker and trimmer, a new model for A4 landscape books from Ashgate Automation.
The company’s previous bookletmaker was finding it challenging to handle the range of stock in matt and gloss and from light paper to heavyweight covers. In addition, it was not able to finish A4 landscape booklets. Although this currently is not a large percentage of Foremost’s business it was proving time consuming to produce manually.
‘We have not sought this type of work in the past because we have not had the right equipment,’ commented Lee Woodcock, managing director. ‘However, some of our customers have asked us to do it and that is where the KF640 bookletmaker is making a big difference. Not only can we do it quickly, it’s accurate and the finish is high quality and professional.’
‘Print finishing represents about 40% of our business. We have developed a niche market in the medical profession for high quality, complex, print support material,’ added Mr Woodcock. ‘Typically these are low runs of 5000 booklets in 50 different languages digitally printed on our two Ricoh presses (a 7200 and a 9001).’
