Wye Media has installed an IGS Titanium 1113 digital cutter at its Monmouth facility to address finishing bottlenecks following growth in wide-format sales.
The company provides digital printing, large format production and fulfilment services. The investment is intended to improve turnaround times and cutting precision, replacing previous manual cutting processes that had become a constraint as wide-format volumes increased.
Owner Chris McGowan said Wye Media needed a finishing system that could provide industrial reliability while remaining affordable and easy to integrate with its existing Caldera workflow. The decision followed a recommendation from a former colleague at EPC Cwmbran, where a larger Titanium 2516 model has been in use for more than five years.
“When you hear that a machine has been running reliably for over half a decade in a high-pressure environment, it makes the decision very easy,” said Mr McGowan. “The Titanium 1113 provides the exact versatility we were looking for, allowing us to maintain our high standards while significantly increasing our throughput.”
According to the company, installation was straightforward, helped by the Titanium’s native software driver for Caldera. Wye Media was able to produce its first live production job within several hours of the machine being commissioned.
Peter Flynn, managing director at IGS, said the installation underlined the Titanium range’s reputation for longevity, as well as the value of customer recommendations.
“We are absolutely delighted to see the Titanium 1113 installed at Wye Media,” he said. “It is incredibly rewarding to know that a large portion of our revenue continues to be driven by word-of-mouth and repeat purchases. There is no better testament to the quality of our equipment than a long-term customer telling a peer: ‘This works.’”
The Titanium 1113 can handle applications including packaging prototypes and signage, enabling Wye Media to cut and crease a wider range of substrates in-house.
