Finishing specialist Plockmatic is set to move the majority of its UK assembly operation from its Milton Keynes site to a purpose-built manufacturing, assembly, and logistics plant in Latvia. The move is part of the company’s strategy to focus on customer requirements for cost effective and productive finishing systems delivered with shortened lead times, for both off-line and in-line solutions.

Transitioning to the production facility in Riga will allow the business to further upscale its machine-building and logistics capabilities with new developments. Plockmatic plans to develop new in-line and off-line finishing technology to support the expansion in production cut-sheet toner and inkjet devices at the site. The company will also continue its expansion into the packaging and labelling sectors in the UK.

Jan Marstorp, Plockmatic Group CEO, said the decision to move has been made to focus on the most appropriate geographical locations to take advantage of economies of scale and expertise. He added that the new leaner production facility in Latvia will allow the business to maximise its value proposition for clients, following the recent launch of new booklet making systems, energy efficient LED UV coaters, and folder creasers. Mr Marstorp believes this is the right time for the company to move as it must continue to expand its finishing range.

The company confirmed that R&D, warehousing and electrical operations will remain in UK with its subsidiary company Morgana Systems who will remain in Milton Keynes.
