Colourbridge South West, a print shop based in Ivybridge, has installed a Duplo DC-618 slitter, cutter and creaser, along with the DC-F100 inline folder. The investment was made to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload.

Originally searching for a second-hand creaser and folder, the company ultimately opted for Duplo’s automated finishing system after visiting the company’s showroom. Colourbridge owner, Alan Dakin, said: “When I saw the DC‑618 and F100 in action, I realised it was the right choice. It offers a range of finishing options — trimming, creasing, folding and perforating — all in one machine.”

The DC‑618 can perform multiple finishing functions in a single pass, making it well-suited for jobs like business cards, brochures, and greeting cards. Paired with the DC-F100 folder, it enables streamlined production of folded items without additional handling. “It’s cut out a lot of manual processes, especially for greeting cards,” Mr Dakin explained.

The purchase adds to Colourbridge’s existing setup, which includes a Xerox Versant 280, large format printers, a laminator, and equipment for producing personalised gifts such as mugs and T-shirts. Mr Dakin said the investment has increased productivity, freeing up time to talk to customers and complete orders more quickly. This has resulted in improved workflow and customer satisfaction.

Duplo sales manager Jason Davies noted that the decision to invest in a more comprehensive system made sense for Colourbridge’s volume and service demands. “A basic creaser-folder wouldn’t have been enough,” Mr Davies said. “With the automation in place, Alan can focus more on his customers.”
