Heidelberg has installed the first Jetfire 50 digital inkjet press in France, with French commercial printing company PerfectMix bringing the system into operation at its Saint-Laurent-du-Var facility.

PerfectMix has expanded its presence in southern France in recent years through the acquisition of several printing plants, supporting its growth strategy and increasing its production capabilities. The company said digital printing, alongside offset printing, is playing an increasingly important role in its operations.

According to Heidelberg the Jetfire 50 has been integrated into PerfectMix’s existing workflow through the Prinect Production Manager system, enabling a coordinated hybrid print production process that combines offset and digital printing. The company said the integration is intended to improve automation, streamline production processes, and support efficient management of print jobs across different production methods.

The installation is designed to provide greater flexibility for short-run production, personalised print applications, and on-demand jobs, while supporting an end-to-end production workflow.

PerfectMix described the Jetfire 50 as a significant investment aimed at meeting demand for shorter print runs, personalised content, and faster turnaround times.

“The Jetfire 50 perfectly complements our offset and post-press equipment and enables us to optimise our production, particularly for short and medium runs: personalised print products, small premium runs, or products requiring finishing steps,” said Franck Vitaloni and Jean-Pierre Geiser, managing directors at PerfectMix.

Heidelberg said interest in hybrid production environments that combine offset and digital printing continues to grow among commercial printers. The company noted that customers are increasingly adding Jetfire 50 systems to their existing offset production operations, with both technologies integrated through the Prinect workflow platform.

“As a full-service provider and end-to-end system integrator, Heidelberg offers its customers digital printing solutions that enable them to increase their profitability and competitiveness,” said Dr David Schmedding, executive board member for technology and sales at Heidelberg.

He added: “We are right on schedule with the international rollout of the Jetfire 50. Further initial installations of the industrial inkjet system are planned in additional Asian markets as well as Northern Europe over the coming weeks and months.”
