Phil Earle, managing director
Colour Engine, the specialist distributor for colour management and soft proofing tools has achieved significant time savings at Swiftprint in Huddersfield.
The company claims that the colour management experts are saving its studio teams up to two days a week. Previously the design department spent a large amount of time fixing files ready to print.
Phil Earle, managing director said, ‘Colour Engine’s consultancy and support is now indispensable. The huge advantage is that the time used in the past to fix individual files can now be spent in valuable design time. We are already seeing hours of time savings from not having to analyse and correct each file.’
He continued, ‘Their expertise was obvious and they immediately gave us answers. It went from there and six months down the line we are already seeing a significant difference in productivity, time efficiency and quality on colour matching. 75% of what they give us is training and advice – these guys really know their stuff and we can’t believe our luck. It’s a selling tool to be able to offer colour consistency across all products no matter which press – digital, litho or wide format. Colour Engine has given us the opportunity to offer a complete service to our clients. We can now offer brand integrity where it is needed no matter what the product.’
Colour Engine has utilised the files at Swiftprint and created colour profiles using a standard Adobe Acrobat software programme. They have implemented a set of rules whereby each press is set to a colour standard. The company now receives the PDFs and runs them through preset pre-flighting. Colour Engine has tailored the profiles to suit the company’s production.
The company is already seeing hours of time savings from not having to analyse and correct each file. Like most print companies Swiftprint receives files from a diversity of sources with all types of file settings and formats.
