US commercial print provider Xerographic Digital Printing has expanded its production capabilities with the installation of an HP Indigo 7K+ digital press as part of a wider strategy to support business growth and modernise production.

The Orlando-based company installed the press following its previous experience as a beta customer for HP Indigo technology. The investment follows more than 35 years of growth since the business was established as a copy shop serving Orlando’s legal sector, and now supports customers across industries including hospitality, tourism and corporate events.

Xerographic previously operated both an HP Indigo 12000 and an HP Indigo 5600 digital press. The addition of the HP Indigo 7K+ enables the company to produce both high-volume commercial print work and premium applications from a single platform, while supporting personalised marketing materials, training documents and other print applications.

The press offers variable data printing, short-run production, rapid job changeovers and support for specialty inks and embellishments, allowing the company to produce personalised campaigns and event collateral with shorter turnaround times.

Xerographic also expects to make significant use of the 7K+’s ECO Print Mode. The four-colour printing mode uses a thinner ink layer and requires less drying, with HP stating it can reduce the carbon footprint of each job by 11%. Following testing, the company expects around 40% of its production volume to be produced using ECO Print Mode, citing productivity improvements and a colour profile that better suits many of its tourism projects.

“The HP Indigo 7K+ has been an excellent investment for our business because it gives us the flexibility to produce a much broader range of applications from a single press,” said Richard Smith, co-founder, Xerographic Digital Printing. “We’re now able to achieve a wider color gamut, reproducing colors that simply weren’t possible before and ultimately, opening up new creative opportunities for our customers. Whether we’re producing high-volume training materials or premium hospitality applications, we can deliver the quality, consistency and creativity businesses are looking for.”

The press has also introduced additional automation through features including the Auto Alert Agent inspection system, which identifies potential print issues before they affect production, while HP Nio provides production data to help benchmark operator performance and inform training.

“Xerographic Digital Printing has built its success on a willingness to evolve alongside its customers and the market,” said Fernando Alperowitch, general manager, HP Industrial Print, North America. “This investment strengthens its ability to take on new opportunities and expand into higher-value applications while maintaining the responsiveness that has defined the business for more than three decades.”

The company said it is also evaluating further workflow automation and production management tools as part of its ongoing investment strategy.
