Polish book printer Poligrafia Janusz Nowak has invested in its first digital inkjet press, installing a Screen Truepress JET 520HD Mono as it enters the digital book printing market.
The investment comes as the company responds to growing demand for shorter print runs and on-demand book production.
“We saw shorter runs increasingly move to companies using digital printing, which meant we risked losing a critical segment of our customer base if we didn’t adapt,” said Mikołaj Nowak of Poligrafia Janusz Nowak. “Investing in digital technology became essential for our continued growth.”
After evaluating a number of digital printing suppliers, the company selected the Screen Truepress JET 520HD Mono. According to Poligrafia Janusz Nowak, Screen’s presence in the Polish market and its experience in digital book printing were key factors in the decision.
“For our first step into digital printing, we needed a stable partner offering not just a quality printing solution, but book printing expertise and exceptional support,” said Mr Nowak. “Unlike some larger companies, Screen offers personalised attention and a deep understanding of how to best deploy digital printing technology for book printing.”
The monochrome inkjet press will complement the company’s existing offset production, enabling it to produce short-run and on-demand books alongside longer-run offset work. The installation also introduces variable data printing capabilities through Screen’s Equios workflow software, supporting applications including personalised and single-copy book production.
Poligrafia Janusz Nowak describes the installation as the first stage of its digital printing strategy, with plans to integrate the technology into its existing workflows before considering further investment in digital inkjet for full-colour book production.
“Moving into digital printing is a natural progression for a mid-sized company like ours,” continued Mr Nowak. “It complements our existing offset operations perfectly, allowing us greater flexibility and efficiency, while enabling us to respond swiftly to market demands for smaller, more customised print runs while maintaining the same print quality. It supports our long-term goals to offer comprehensive solutions for all types of book printing jobs, positioning ourselves for future growth.”
