Pureprint Group has acquired Simpson Group from administration, adding further capabilities in point of sale, in-store marketing and display production.

Based in Washington, Tyne & Wear, Simpson Group has operated for more than 50 years and specialises in the production of point of sale and point of purchase displays, free-standing display units (FSDUs), window displays, and 3D structural display solutions for retailers and brands. All jobs have been retained as part of the acquisition.

The acquisition expands Pureprint’s presence in the retail display sector and complements the activities of Imprint, the group’s retail and display division based in Newburn, Newcastle upon Tyne.

With both businesses located in the Northeast, the deal brings together additional manufacturing capacity, large-format production capabilities, specialist display expertise and production space. According to Pureprint, the combined operation will provide a broader range of services for retailers, brands and agencies across the two sites.

Mark Handford, CEO of Pureprint Group, said: “We are pleased to welcome Simpson Group into Pureprint Group. Simpson has a long-standing reputation within the point of sale and display market, and the business brings talented people, proven manufacturing expertise and strong customer relationships. This acquisition creates new opportunities for customers of both businesses while strengthening our ability to deliver high-quality retail and marketing solutions. We look forward to working with the Simpson team and building on the strong foundations already in place.”

Pureprint said the acquisition forms part of its ongoing investment in people, technology and manufacturing as it continues to pursue growth across print, packaging, display and marketing services.

Established in 1926, Pureprint Group now employs more than 580 people and generates annual revenues of approximately £95m. The company operates from sites across the UK, including its headquarters in Uckfield, as well as Imprint in Newcastle, Simpson in Washington, Ashford Colour in Gosport and The Impurium creative agency in Leeds and Cardiff.
