Web-to-print specialist Infigo has come to an agreement with online payments giant Stripe to allow it to offer its customers a range of digital and online payment options via a dedicated plugin.

As the print industry moves increasingly towards a digital payments and e-commerce model, Infigo wants to be able to offer payment methods such as Apple and Google pay in addition to credit and debit card payments. The new plugin provides an embeddable, secure payment gateway that integrates with storefronts or client portals, created on the Infigo platform. In addition to expanding the number of payment methods Infigo offers , the number of countries it can take payment from has risen to 46.

On the surface e-commerce appears to be booming, with sales across all sectors increasing by 24.1% between 2019 and 2020 and online transactions totalling $4.29 trillion (£3.16 trillion). It is also estimated that 2.14 billion transactions took place online in 2021 alone.

However research from the Baymard Institute reports that 69.8% of all online shopping carts end up being abandoned. When it comes to the reasons behind this, 18% of online shoppers blamed a long and complicated checkout process, 17% don’t trust the website in question with their card information and 7% say retailers don’t offer enough payment methods. Infigo claims that the new Stripe plugin mitigates all of these.

The company’s head of customer success Greg Young said the pandemic had lead directly to increase demand from the company’s customers for an Integration with Stripe, as a result of the pandemic. ‘We have seen a number of customers grow their e-commerce side of the business during the pandemic,’ he said. ‘The result of this is that they are receiving orders from parts of the world they hadn’t before. Our other payment plugins are limited to specific regions – for example, only UK Customers can use Opayo (formerly Sagepay) and only US customers can use Authorize.net. Now we have integrated with Stripe it’ll help our clients to grow in completely new territories and give their customers confidence that the transaction is secure and a lot easier to complete.’

Douglas Gibson, CEO of Infigo, added, ‘We used the early part of lockdown to really engage with our customers and learn how we could improve the platform. This is why we’re rolling out a range of new functionality and integrations that will help our customers grow. We are delighted to launch this first stage of our collaboration with Stripe with additional features being made available, through the payment provider, in the coming months.’
