Solent Design Studio has installed a PFi Blade B2+ digital cutting table from Duplo as it looks to eliminate bottlenecks.

The Hampshire-based company says that it will be using the cutting table to extend new services to its existing customers and to win new business within the packaging industry.

It has also installed a new Duplo DC-618 slitter/cutter/creaser in order to ensure that all its jobs are completed on time. Managing director Martin Reynolds commented, ‘The PFI Blade enables us to proof jobs for clients without incurring tooling costs, and allows us to attract new business from the packaging sector. It has already created huge interest from other printers and companies with packaging requirements, giving us an increased turnover. We chose the PFi Blade B2+ because of its 800 x 600mm flatbed size which can work with our printed sheet size. Our team of graphic designers, have a vast amount of experience creating packaging items, this enables our production team to consistently produce high quality products for our clients.’

Mr Reynolds added that the new machines has allowed his company to turn around jobs much faster. He explained, ‘The DC-618 can accommodate any bottleneck in finishing and it is very easy to use with all staff able to operate this machine to its maximum potential. Duplo has been very supportive, and the installation went very smoothly. The training has given us enough knowledge to start producing products immediately.’

Duplo’s regional sales manager Adam Drummond added, ‘Solent Design Studio are very different to most other PFi Blade customers as their design team have driven the work towards the machine. Looking at the products and samples they’re putting through the PFi Blade, they are being incredibly creative in their approach to win new business and I’m hoping that it will give them great success in the market.’
