MA Systems, a German PSP based in Wallenhorst, has installed a complete printing and curling system from Bigprinter, the Moscow-based manufacturer of digital printing and cutting equipment.

The system itself consists of a Bigprinter UV flatbed printer and a Bigzee GL ATC CNC machine with knife module and tool changer. Both the printer and the CNC machine have identical dimensions, with working areas of 2 x 3m.

MA Systems has positioned itself as a supplier of exhibition stands and a growth in demand, as well as the possibility of branching out into similar applications, necessitated the investment in the new system.

Bigprinter’s technology allows for materials to be both printed and then cut into shape with ‘very low personal effort.’ The company says that its software and hardware components ‘work almost entirely automatically as a print and cut solution,’ aided by a camera system in the postpress work area.

Other key features of the system include the high scratch resistance of the print, the absence of gloss effects in the finished print products and the presence of a knife option on the CNC machine which has ‘greatly expanded the range of materials that can be processed.’

The installation has been completed at MA Systems facility in Wallenhorst, in compliance with Covid regulations, in a collaboration between a Bigprinter technician and technicians from Bigprinter’s German distributor Modico.
