Norfolk-based graphics, signage and print business Multisigns has invested in a Vivid VeloBlade Nexus digital cutting system from Soyang Europe, allowing the company to bring more production in-house and reduce turnaround times.

Operating from its Thetford facility for more than 25 years, Multisigns produces signage, large-format print, vehicle graphics and display solutions. The investment follows increased demand for cut-to-shape signage, lettering and bespoke display products.
Previously, much of this work was outsourced to external suppliers. Multisigns co-owners Mitch Day and Jim Pryer said bringing the work in-house has given the company greater control over production, while opening up opportunities to offer a broader range of applications.
Manufactured by Vivid Laminating Technologies and available in the UK and Ireland through Soyang Europe, the VeloBlade Nexus is available in three bed sizes: 3000 x 1600mm, 2500 x 1600mm and 1800 x 1600mm. It features tools including a drag knife, crease wheel, v-cut knife and oscillating knife, with an optional CNC router, and can process substrates including corrugated board, foam PVC, MDF, acrylic and Dibond.
“We selected the machine because it offered the flexibility and precision we were looking for, while also fitting the needs of our business both now and in the future,” said Mr Day and Mr Pryer. “The ability to produce a wide range of custom-shaped products in-house made it an attractive investment and one that aligns with our plans for continued growth.
“Since installation, we have been producing a variety of cut-to-shape lettering signs and working with wood-based materials to create bespoke products. The machine has enabled us to take on a broader range of applications and offer customers more creative and customised solutions.
“The impact has been immediate. Previously, much of this type of work was outsourced, but bringing production in-house has proved far more cost-effective and has given us greater control over quality and scheduling. It has also significantly reduced turnaround times, enabling us to respond more quickly to customer requests and take on projects that may not have been practical before.”
The VeloBlade Nexus was installed in March. Multisigns is now considering further investment, including direct-to-board printing technology, to complement its new cutting capacity and further streamline its production workflow.
