ImageData Group, a British print service provider with sites spread across the UK, has installed an HP Indigo 100k as part of a drive to increase capability and reduce its carbon footprint.

The family-owned company, which was founded in 1989, provides what it describes as a ‘comprehensive’ print offering, specialising in POS solutions for the retail sector, printed product support for manufacturing companies and high impact, print advertising campaigns.

ImageData said that demand for shorter runs amongst its customers, as well as changes to other purchasing behaviours, led to the investment in the 100k. It also added that, with its history of providing personalised campaigns, it saw an opportunity to move from B3 high-speed digital printing to B2, opening up a completely new area of personalisation.

The new press, which has been installed at the company’s site in Willerby, Yorkshire, will enhance ImageData’s print capacity, allow it to print variable data up to B2 and provide faster turnaround times. Its speed and increased sheet size also means that ImageData can now print up to 6000 variable B2 full colour sheets an hour. Finally the 100k will help the company limit its carbon footprint by offering low-environmental impact printing and reducing the need to travel between sites for various finishes.

Commenting on the new installation, Pete Shaw, production director at ImageData, said, ‘As a company we have been looking at the B2 Digital market for many years. We now feel that with the quality and speed of print achievable on the 100K, it is the perfect time to invest in more energy efficient machinery that will not only help us to achieve our client’s needs, but to meet them in a more environmentally sustainable way.’

Dave Prezzano, HP’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, added, ‘I’m delighted to see imageData Group experiencing the multitude of benefits to digital printing with its new HP Indigo 100K digital press. In particular, how the new press has allowed imageData to reduce their carbon footprint by limiting the need to travel between production sites. All HP Indigo digital presses are designed with the environment in mind – as well as manufactured carbon neutral, they support eco-certified materials and offer reduced production waste and energy efficiency’
