Latcham has invested in a new Baumann Wohlenberg 115 high-speed guillotine, purchased through Friedheim International, as part of an ongoing drive to upgrade to more reliable and efficient equipment.

The company, which has premises in both Bristol and Crawley and runs a Canon VarioPrint i300 sheet-fed inkjet press, singled out the Baumann Wohlenberg 115 as the ‘perfect replacement that was within its budget,’ installing an ex-showroom device.

While the guillotine has only been operational for a number of weeks, operations director Colin Mattinson said Latcham has already experienced a number of key benefits, including significantly faster cutting speeds.

‘The device has been received well by the production team; training was beneficial in order to understand the guillotines programmable functionality,’ Mr Mattinson said. ‘The new device has a larger cutting capacity than its replacement and we have significantly increased our cutting hourly outputs, therefore reducing the operational hourly costs.’

Established in 2010, Latcham now employs more than 100 people between its office in Crawley and a purpose-built 8000sqm print facility in Bristol.
