Source Signs has replaced a second-hand Roland VersaCAMM with a new Roland TrueVIS VG2-640, supplied by Quality Print Services.

The Glasgow-based company says that the installation has made a ‘massive difference’ to its turnaround speeds, meaning it’s now possible to finish prints in just six hours.

Source Signs, a family-run business specialising in signage for the construction, retail and health and safety sectors as well as vehicle graphics, had been using the VersaCAMM for around five years. It was able to upgrade to the VG2-640 thanks to Roland’s VersaCAMM scrapping scheme.

‘The TrueVIS VG2 is a similar platform to the VersaCAMM so it was easy to learn but has much quicker drying ink,’ said managing director Charles O’Brien. ‘This faster turnaround has made a massive difference. We can provide a next-day service if the client needs it, and urgent work is very common in the construction industry.

‘The VG2’s roll-up feature also means it takes up less space in the print room and keeps graphics off the floor. But my favourite thing is the LED light – it’s a little design feature but it makes it much easier to see colour differences.’

Originally launched in 2019, Roland says that the TrueVIS VG2 was deigned by taking older models, such as the VersaCAMM and making ‘over 40 enhancements’ including adding quick drying TR2 inks.
