Morgana and EFI have integrated the former’s AutoCut Pro multi-finishers with the latter’s Fiery DFE to automate finishing job set-up.

The software integration, which is said to speed set-up on the AutoCut Pro by up to 70%, involves templates for common jobs such as business cards or postcards. The templates are used in the Fiery Impose software and come pre-set with measurements for margins and gutters in addition to finished sizes. They also include cut registration marks that allow the AutoCut Pro to compensate automatically for image shift during the production run.

Ray Hillhouse, general manager UK Operations, at Morgana owner Plockmatic Group, said, ‘Customers are continually seeking ways to cut production time on printed jobs whilst increasing profitability at the same time. This is our latest automated solution to assist users in finishing regular work – saving time, ensuring accuracy, speeding up production, and therefore increasing profit on the job.’

The Morgana AutoCut Pro offers cutting, slitting and creasing and can handle paper weights from 120 to 350gsm, in sheet sizes from 210 x 210mm to 330 x 700mm long.

EFI has also announced the Fiery FS400 Pro, the latest generation of its RIP and DFE platform, which it says delivers ‘unmatched’ colour accuracy, increased productivity and more automation. Its features include Fiery JobExpert, which analyses incoming PDF files – including PDF 2.0 files – to optimise processing for both quality and performance. The Fiery FS400 was shown at Printing United in the USA in October, in conjunction with Konica Minolta’s new AccurioPress C14000 production class toner press.
