Latcham Direct has installed a Canon Océ VarioPrint i300 as part of an effort to improve both quality and speed, while reducing running costs.

The Bristol-based company hopes the machine, installed in May, will allow it to produce high volume colour inkjet at speed whilst providing short-runs, personalised documents, white paper solutions and colour-enhanced monochrome documents.

‘As the majority of work Latcham produces is highly personalised, we needed to find a solution that could offer versatility, without compromising quality standards, to allow the company to offer its customers the next generation in high quality personalisation,’ explained managing director Mike Hughes. ’Before turning to Canon, our print operators were waiting up to 15 minutes before some jobs would start printing, but the VarioPrint has reduced this waiting time to one minute, which we are extremely impressed with.

‘The main challenge we faced was selecting the correct devices to replace Latcham’s existing products: Xerox iGen, Docucolour and Nuvera devices. But, following in-depth consultations on possible replacements, it was clear that inkjet was the way forward, given its high quality, speed and low running cost. Flexibility was also a key decision maker, with the ability to print mono, business colour, and high quality marketing material all from the same device.’
