Durst has added the P5 350 and P5 210 hybrid wide-format printers based on its P5 technology platform introduced last year, offering 3.5 and 2.1m widths respectively, supported by the manufacturer’s ‘ecosystem’ of software and services.

Focusing on overall efficiency, the new models offer 1200dpi resolution, support multi-roll production with fast material changeover and the ability to handle up to six ‘tracks’ of rigid media up to A3 size in parallel. Automatic sensors detect the width, thickness (up to 5cm) and position of media, as well as any wrinkling effects. This productivity is supported by a folding roller table for rigid media which can be attached without removing any loaded roll media. Options extend to three-quarter automation via a stacker and ink identification which prevent mis-filling or use of expired inks.

Durst’s modular software solutions, Durst Workflow, Durst Analytics and Durst Smart Shop also now ship with all P5 models. The browser-based software allows drag-and-drop creation of imposition templates, spot colour conversion and parallel RIPping for maximum throughput. Communications with MIS and ERP software allow the Analytics model to provide custom dashboards and insights into business performance, while the Smart Shop software is designed to allow easy e-commerce set-up with previewing on any supported device (including mobiles and tablets), and includes 3D and augmented reality previews of products as they are designed and specified.

‘P5 is Durst’s technology and innovation platform for large format specialists,’ said Christoph Gamper, CEO of the Durst Group. ‘In 2018, we set a new standard in print quality with the P5 250 HS, and, in the meantime, we developed new printer solutions to streamline processes for our customers.’

Both new models and associated software are available immediately.
