Bonacia has invested in a Vareo perfect binder and InfiniTrim three-knife trimmer inline duo in a deal signed at the Muller Martini stand at the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne.

The digital printer, based in Peterborough, deals mostly with short runs of as few as one copy. For this reason Bonacia needs a lean and continuous production process, from the printing press to distribution, that is as automated as possible.

‘We have four long-term goals,’ said production director Carl Whitelock. ‘Reduce overtime, reduce changeover times, reduce manual interventions and reduce unit costs.’

Bonacia bought the perfect binder, which comes with an EVA Hotmelt conveyor system, and the trimmer after being impressed by a tour of the Muller Martini world in Switzerland. The company also calculated that the Muller Martini equipment would pay for itself much more quickly than that offered by other companies.
