A new PDF archiving standard, PDF/A-3, is supported by the latest version 4 update to callas software’s pdfaPilot.
Users can automate the conversion of Microsoft Office and OpenOffice documents into fully compliant PDF/A-3 files while embedding the source document in the same file. The company said this makes it easy to build robust archives in PDF while retaining also the original source documents; providing huge potential in archival workflows.
‘PDF/A-3 firstly addresses all cases in which the source file and the to be archivable counterpart should be linked together in a single package. This is often beneficial with Excel spreadsheets,’ sad Dietrich von Seggern, business development manager of callas software. ‘A PDF/A-3 package can also be associated with several process- or project-related documents combining them into a digital file.’
The new version is being released this week
