Oryx joins Impala and Nyala in moving to LED curing

Available from November, swissQprint is bringing an LED version of its entry-level Oryx flatbed UV-curing wide-format printer to market.

The transition to LED curing completes the move to the more environmentally-friendly technology for the Swiss manufacturer’s family of flatbed printers; the lower heat generation expands the range of potential applications to thinner and heat-senstive media that couldn’t be used with mercury vapour lamp curing.

The 2.5 x 2m 65sqm/hr flatbed Oryx LED shares mechanical features with its faster (Impala LED, up to 180sqm/hr) and larger (Nyala LED, 3.2 x 2m, 206sqm/hr) siblings and like them is built to specific customer requirements such as allocation of the nine colour channels and media handling options, including robot loading and unloading for maximum productivity. These options are also available as retro-fits.

‘Since Impala LED and Nyala LED were launched, we see the bulk of customers preferring the LED solution over mercury vapour lamps,’ said Maurus Zeller, head of product management.
