Easy-to-use digital printing adds an extra element with personalisation

Investment in a Roland DG VersaUV LEF-300 UV flatbed printer has helped  customised photographic keepsake company Write From The Heart keep up with Valentine’s Day demand.

When the Chepstow-based company was established four years ago, work producing personalised items ranging from photo blocks to phone cases, and cushion covers to clocks  was outsourced to print businesses using large format flatbed printers to save money and space. But delivery times were around two weeks, which was not ideal for last-minute gift orders ahead of dates like February 14th.

Industry supplier Xpres led the team to the flatbed printer, which can print directly on a range of materials and 3D items up to 100mm thick. ECO-UV inks in CMYK, bright white and clear gloss – which can be applied in layers to create special effects and textures – make details stand out.

Kirsty Ibanez Prankerd, managing director, said, ‘The Roland machine is perfect for small businesses who are looking to fulfill more orders but don’t have the space or the money to invest in large flatbed laser printers. Since this purchase we have cut our delivery time down from 14 working days to just three-to-five. We have gained an average 30 extra days of sales during busy periods, which so far this year has turned over in excess of £130,000.’
