Daniel Tansley, managing director of Tansleys Printers, with the BM350

After a fire at Tansleys Printers at the end of 2017, Morgana Systems was able to come to the rescue with like-for-like replacements in the finishing area of the business.

The fire did serious damage to the printing equipment at the company, in Seaford, East Sussex, forcing the owners, through their insurance company, to re-equip much of the machinery on site. Daniel Tansley, managing director of Tansleys Printers, said, ‘We had mostly Morgana equipment in the finishing area, and the company were very supportive of our efforts to get back into operation as quickly as possible, with a number of the replacement products coming out of their showroom.

‘The BM350 bookletmaker package is the biggest part of the installation. It has replaced a combined Horizon and Morgana set-up, giving us the equivalent collating and binding production but in a more effective solution.’

The company had visited Ipex prior to the fire, and placed an order for the DigiFold Pro. Mr Tansley commented, ‘With regard to the new part of the package – the DigiFold – that has been a revelation for us. It has replaced the old Heidelberg Cylinder press for creasing, producing work that then needed to be hand folded. It carries out both operations in a single pass, allowing us to rattle through jobs at great speed.’

Established in 1981, the family run business undertakes a wide variety of commercial work. Printing now takes place with a new Xerox digital system, a five-colour Heidelberg SM52 (a machine that was purchased to replace a fire damaged six-colour press), a Komori Sprint 28 two-colour B2 machine, and a GTO 52 single colour with numbering and perforating.
