US print, packaging and fulfilment company Hatteras has expanded its production capabilities following the installation of an HP PageWide Advantage 2200 with an H&B Post Coater. The investment enables the business to increase capacity for high-volume variable data work while improving turnaround times and production consistency.
The new machine builds on Hatteras’ existing HP Indigo portfolio, which includes the HP Indigo 100K, HP Indigo 15K and HP Indigo 12K presses. According to the company, the new installation has helped transform a previously fragmented production workflow into a more integrated environment designed to support high-volume, personalised print campaigns.
The company said the system enables print and coating to be completed in a single pass, combining two-sided printing with double-sided coating. Hatteras has also expanded into high-speed roll-to-roll production with near-line roll finishing, reducing manual handling and improving accuracy for time-sensitive jobs.
Bill Duerr, president of Hatteras, said: “By combining the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 with our HP Indigo portfolio, we have built a more connected and scalable production environment that allows us to move faster and take on more complex, highly versioned work.”
Hatteras said the improvements have strengthened customer confidence by increasing turnaround reliability and consistency across complex, versioned campaigns, leading to increased repeat business for time-critical programmes. The company also reported that reducing production bottlenecks has improved overall efficiency and delivery performance.
The new press is integrated with HP PrintOS, providing greater visibility of production, improved reporting and faster issue resolution. Hatteras said this has helped improve planning, reduce downtime and support greater automation across its operation.
The company added that as production processes have become more streamlined, operators and customer-facing teams have been able to spend more time developing new applications, solving production challenges and refining workflows, rather than managing manual processes.
Vahaaj Khan, head of commercial sales, HP Americas PageWide Inkjet Web, added: “Hatteras demonstrates how print service providers are evolving to meet the growing complexity of modern marketing production. By consolidating print and coating into a more integrated workflow, they have reduced production touchpoints, improved throughput, and created a more predictable environment for managing high-volume, data-driven campaigns.”
Hatteras also said the integrated workflow supports its sustainability objectives by reducing waste through demand-led production, limiting overruns and rework, and improving overall process consistency. The company plans to continue developing a more connected and automated production environment using HP technologies.
