Canon has launched its Red Label Zero FSC range of papers, designed for businesses and print companies aiming to cut their carbon footprint while maintaining high-quality output.

The new range, previewed at drupa 2024, replaces Canon’s Red Label Superior line and offers the same specifications with added sustainability credentials. Certified by FSC (FSC-C008945) and ClimatePartner, the papers meet strict environmental standards, with their product carbon footprint calculated, reductions defined and implemented, and residual emissions offset through investment in renewable energy and certified climate projects.

Red Label Zero is available in cut-sheet and reel formats, in sizes from A4 to SRA3, with weights from 80 to 160gsm. Canon highlights the paper’s smooth surface, high opacity and whiteness, which help deliver sharp contrast and vivid colours for both toner and inkjet applications. The range also includes EU Ecolabel and Nordic Swan Ecolabel certifications and is produced using elemental chlorine-free bleaching.

Canon has emphasised sustainability throughout the supply chain, from working with mills that combine pulp and paper production on one site, to sourcing fibre from FSC and PEFC-certified forests, and using 100% recycled packaging. Large-volume customers can also receive direct deliveries from mills, further reducing transport-related emissions.

Dominic Fahy, head of corporate at Canon, said: “Sustainability is a key part of our corporate philosophy. From paper ranges through to upgradable and long-lasting print hardware, we’re committed to helping our customers to continuously lower the environmental footprint of their operations. Since the launch of the first Zero range in partnership with ClimatePartner in 2012, we have financially contributed to multiple climate projects which help us to take responsibility for any residual emissions from our products.”

The Red Label Zero FSC range is available now through Canon’s sales network, resellers and online store.
