Non-profit research and education institute, Fogra, has added four new courses designed to meet the evolving needs of the print industry. The online Web Academy, which has been running since 2020, delivers weekly one-hour sessions covering a broad spectrum of technical topics relevant to print professionals.
The platform was developed to address a skills gap caused by shifting technologies and workflows in modern print environments. Delivered in English every Monday and based on Fogra’s ongoing research and standardisation work, the sessions are available live or on demand through a dedicated media library.
Miguel Avellaneda of Giesecke+Devrient Mobile ePayments Iberia S.A. is among the many long-standing participants. “Fogra Web Academy allows us to add science to production processes, stay up to date and advance from a global point of view,” he said.
The latest additions to the course line-up are:
- PDF in Prepress, covering optimisation and troubleshooting of PDF files for professional print workflows
- Proofing, focusing on validation procedures and ISO-compliant evaluations
- Visual Appearance, exploring factors such as gloss and texture beyond colour alone
- ProcessStandard Flexo (PSF), introducing a new flexographic printing standard for consistent output.
Fogra says the new courses reflect both participant feedback and current industry developments, with all content grounded in the institute’s research and consultancy activities. The Academy continues to serve as a practical resource for professionals at all levels, combining scientific foundations with immediately applicable know-how.
