Norwegian label converter Digital Etikett has expanded its finishing capabilities with the installation of a 540mm web width Digicon Series 3. The machine, from A B Graphic International (ABG), is the company’s eighth machine purchase from the UK-based manufacturer.

The new Digicon has been installed alongside Digital Etikett’s 510mm Durst press to help meet increasing production demands. Factory manager Øyvin Tørvi said: “We’ve purchased the 540 Digicon to support growing capacity needs and to propel production upwards. It has proved to be a reliable, well-integrated addition to the factory. The machine is built to last, and in the 17 years we’ve been using ABG equipment, we’ve had only a few days of downtime in total.”

Developed to accommodate the growing trend for wider digital print formats, the 540mm Digicon Series 3 offers the same robust build and performance as its narrower 330mm and 430mm counterparts. The modular system can be customised to individual production needs and supports embellishments such as hot foil and embossing through ABG’s Big Foot 50-ton unit.

The system also features ABG’s upcoming Automatic Matrix Stripping (AMS) module, which is designed to reduce waste and streamline finishing processes. The patent-pending module is expected to officially launch later this year.

Dave Casey, group commercial manager at ABG, said: “Digital Etikett’s decision to invest in the 540 is a reflection of our long-term partnership and their confidence in the robustness and reliability of our technology.”

Global sales director Matt Burton added: “As digital printing continues to mature, customers require high levels of automation, higher speeds, flexibility of web widths and deskilling to keep up, which is exactly what our latest Digicon offers.”
