Avon Signs has partnered with materials supplier Antalis to develop sustainable signage solutions for the UK retail sector. The collaboration focuses on replacing traditional display materials with environmentally responsible alternatives, reflecting growing demand for sustainable practices in retail settings.
Avon Signs sought guidance from Antalis to identify eco-friendly substitutes for conventional substrates. The partnership began through Antalis’ Ecobox initiative — a curated selection of sustainable materials — which prompted Avon Signs to explore options that would reduce environmental impact without compromising quality.
Antalis’ roll media product manager Mike Collins and account manager Kelly Richings provided technical support throughout the project. Their expertise in both rigid and flexible materials helped Avon Signs to select appropriate substrates for various retail applications, the company said.
Among the materials chosen was Triaprint R Recycled Black Core, a recyclable board made with recycled content. It offers a lightweight and durable alternative to aluminium composite material (ACM). In addition, Avon Signs adopted Coala PP Stick Latex Printable, a PVC-free, self-adhesive film available in both matt and gloss finishes. This material was noted for its print quality and durability, making it suitable for high-visibility retail displays.
Encouraged by the results, Avon Signs is now evaluating additional products from Antalis’ sustainable range, such as Lumex, Xanita, and Exten Prime Ex PP double-sided banner, for use in future projects.
Paul Aubrey, graphic manager at Avon Signs, said: “We’re seeing increasing demand from our customers for sustainable solutions. Antalis’ product range and expertise have enabled us to expand our offerings significantly.”
Mr Collins added: “This collaboration shows how supplier consultation can play a key role in helping businesses meet their sustainability goals.”
