Fujifilm has provided a series of printed installations to support the 85th anniversary commemorations of Operation Dynamo, taking place in Ramsgate, Kent. The 1940 military operation involved the evacuation of 338,000 British troops from Dunkirk in France.

More than 70 of the original ‘little ships’ involved in the wartime mission gathered in Ramsgate Harbour before a commemorative crossing to France. To support the event the Fujifilm team in nearby Broadstairs supplied a variety of printed materials designed to honour the event’s historical significance.

Adam Moore, product manager at Fujifilm wide format inkjet services, said: “We were delighted to support this important local event, free of charge, with a range of striking wide format prints.” The prints were produced on Fujifilm’s Acuity Prime L and Acuity Prime Hybrid printers, and included 25 life-sized soldier silhouettes installed in local shop windows and pubs, each with a QR code linking to individual stories from the evacuation.

In addition, 30 aluminium composite panels were produced for outdoor display around the harbour and along the Civic Parade route. These featured five black-and-white designs by the charity Standing with Giants, visually charting the evacuation from the beaches in France to the homecoming in Britain. The final panel included coloured text inspired by the Dunkirk medal ribbon.

Former Fujifilm employee and local volunteer Steve Pankhurst coordinated the project. “I knew we could rely on them to produce graphics befitting this important occasion,” he said. “They certainly delivered. This is a significant anniversary of a historic event of huge significance for our town and for the nation. We’re grateful to Fujifilm for helping us to present it in the best way possible.”
