Meteor Inkjet has been awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, recognising its work in advancing more sustainable production methods through industrial inkjet technology.
The Cambridge-based company is one of 36 organisations across the UK to receive the award this year. The King’s Awards for Enterprise, now in their 60th year, recognise commercially successful businesses that deliver environmental, social and economic benefits.
Meteor Inkjet develops printhead driving solutions used in industrial inkjet systems, which are increasingly being adopted as an alternative to more traditional production methods. The company said its technology enables shorter production runs and reduces overproduction, contributing to more efficient use of materials.
The award also acknowledges the company’s broader approach to sustainability, including efforts to minimise its own environmental impact and operate in a socially responsible and ethical way.
Managing director Clive Ayling said: “This recognition reflects the journey we’ve been on to embed sustainability into every part of our business. From offsetting our carbon footprint to supporting our people and local community, we’ve worked hard to ensure that responsible, ethical practices guide our decisions every day as we enable the conversion of industry to more sustainable production using industrial inkjet. While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we see this as just the beginning and remain focused on continuous sustainable development.”
This is the second time Meteor Inkjet has received a King’s (formerly Queen’s) Award for Enterprise, having previously been recognised in 2019 for its achievements in international trade.
Winners of this year’s awards will be invited to a Royal Reception at St James’s Palace, and Meteor Inkjet said it will also mark the achievement with employees at its Cambridge headquarters.
