Agfa has appointed Andy Clifton as head of innovation at Agfa Inkjet Solutions, where he will lead the company’s global research and development organisation.
In his new role, Mr Clifton will report to Vincent Wille, president of Digital Printing Solutions, and will be responsible for further strengthening Agfa’s innovation strategy by integrating developments across ink, equipment, and software. The company said the appointment underlines its continued focus on advancing digital inkjet technologies through coordinated R&D efforts.
Mr Clifton joins Agfa with more than 30 years’ experience in the digital printing industry, having worked across a range of technical and leadership roles. Agfa described him as an internationally experienced leader with a strong track record in developing new capabilities and bringing innovative products to market.
According to the company, Mr Clifton is recognised for his strategic approach, including the ability to develop long-term visions, navigate complex technical challenges, and translate innovation into tangible business outcomes. His background spans both scientific research and commercial product development within digital printing.
Mr Clifton holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bath. His early academic research focused on advanced materials and sensor technologies.
