Lincolnshire-based commercial printer J&A International has expanded its production capabilities with the installation of a VeloBlade Nexus wide-format digital die-cutting system. The investment, which includes a feeder and stacker, has been fulfilled by Vivid Laminating Technologies. The new set-up allows the firm to run jobs unattended for extended periods, improving productivity and reducing lead times.

Founded in 1979, J&A International has built a reputation for producing a wide variety of printed products, with specialist expertise in garment decoration using heat-seal transfers. Its portfolio also includes name badges, stickers, pens, signage, graphics and packaging solutions. The company said the decision to invest was driven by its desire to broaden its product range and enhance efficiency, particularly in its signage division and for the ‘Ultima’ removable industrial launder transfer range.

Following a visit to Vivid’s facilities, the J&A team was impressed by the quality of the technology, the condition of the premises, and the professionalism of the staff. The Veloblade Nexus offered high performance comparable to top-tier systems but at a more competitive price, with the added benefit of a router for producing custom-shaped routed signs. The system is paired with Zip Core Packaging Suite software, enabling cutting and printing of cardboard boxes, supported by tailored training.

These improvements have helped the business better meet demand and support growth across key markets.

“The Veloblade is a great bit of kit. It is reliable, and it does exactly what we need it to do,” said James Fry, operations director. “Vivid have always been on hand to quickly fix any issues in a friendly and professional manner. It is very nice to deal with a company where you feel your business genuinely matters to them.”
