Fujifilm North America has introduced the Frontier DX400W, a compact inkjet photo printer designed to enhance print quality, improve operational efficiency, and meet diverse retail and business printing needs. The new model is set to be available from September 2025.

The DX400W features a six-colour ink system, including the newly added sky blue and pink inks, which Fujifilm says allow for more accurate skin tone reproduction and greater colour fidelity. The system uses 250ml high-capacity pouch-style ink units rather than traditional cartridges, a move intended to reduce waste and extend print runs between replacements.

The printer incorporates Fujifilm’s proprietary Image Intelligence technology, which automatically corrects common image exposure issues to optimise output. The company states that this functionality enables the DX400W to support a wide range of photo applications, from standard prints to photo books and calendars.

Physically, the DX400W has been redesigned to be more compact and durable than its predecessor, the DX100, with a 30% reduction in footprint and a lifespan rated at up to 400,000 prints, depending on use. The model now supports both USB and wired LAN connectivity, allowing for flexible deployment in different retail or event environments.

Bing Liem, president of Fujifilm North America Corporation’s Imaging Division, said: “DX400W enables on-demand printing of not only standard photo prints, but also a wide range of photo products including photo books and calendars. Designed to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers, DX400W enhances Fujifilm’s inkjet system lineup with the latest functionality and convenience.”

The new printer is being positioned as a versatile solution for retail environments, events, and commercial applications where space, usability, and print quality are key factors. It will join Fujifilm’s existing Frontier series of printers as part of the company’s broader imaging product offering.
